Our Services

We work with you in a warm, gentle, and collaborative relationship to foster your healing processes and growth. Many clients use psychotherapy as a safe space to understand themselves better and benefit from understanding how historical experiences inform current behaviours and impact their relationships. Our clients consider our work an integral part of their self-care practice. We witness our clients developing more compassionate, aware, and accepting relationships with themselves and deepening their ability to connect with others in meaningful and more satisfying ways.

At Laura Murton Psychotherapy, we believe that the right fit between therapist and client is an essential component of positive change. We are committed to life-long learning and engage in regular professional development to ensure we offer the most current, evidence-based approaches to psychotherapy. Our associates work in consultation/supervision with Laura. We invite you to book a free consultation to see if we are the team you would like to work with to pursue your goals.

We offer therapy sessions in cozy little offices in Hintonburg, Old Ottawa South, Centretown, and online. We schedule evening and weekday appointments.

Meet the team

Laura Murton, M.Ed, Registered Psychotherapist

Practicing psychotherapy is my lifelong dream, and I’ve had the privilege of working in this field for the last 11 years. My approach is Humanistic, and embodies a Narrative therapeutic stance of genuine curiosity, collaboration, and transparency. I integrate techniques from Attachment Theory, Self-Compassion Therapy, somatic-oriented, and neurobiological approaches, and I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Re-processing (EMDR), Brainspotting, and Reconsolidation Therapy to heal trauma. I work with adult male, female, LGBTQ2, healthcare providers, veterans, and First Responders. I provide clinical supervision to Psychotherapy Master’s students and therapists.

**Not currently accepting new clients, except for Reconsolidation Therapy

I specialize in PTSD & CPTSD; adult survivors of childhood trauma; sexual assault; gifted & high achieving individuals; grief; infidelity; breakups & divorces; parents (including single, new or expecting); healthcare workers; and veterans. I can assist with integration post- psychedelic-assisted therapy. I welcome diversity in my clientele including all abilities, races, cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic classes, relationship structures (monogamy & non-monogamy), body sizes, sexualities, genders, religions & spiritual beliefs. I offer EMDR and an integrative approach that draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindful Self-Compassion Therapy. My method is trauma-informed and evidence-based.
