Our Services
How Therapy Can Help
We work collaboratively with you to create a therapeutic approach tailored to your unique needs and goals. Using evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, CBT, mindfulness, and other trauma-informed therapies, we'll work together to support healing, resilience, and meaningful change.
At Laura Murton Psychotherapy & Associates, we provide compassionate, evidence-based therapy for:
Our Approach
We work with you in a warm, gentle, and collaborative relationship to foster healing, self-understanding, and growth. Many clients use psychotherapy as a safe space to better understand themselves and explore how historical experiences continue to shape present-day behaviours, emotions, and relationships.
Many clients consider therapy an important part of their self-care practice. We witness our clients developing greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and acceptance while strengthening their ability to connect with others in more meaningful and satisfying ways.
We believe the relationship between therapist and client is an essential part of meaningful and lasting change. Our team engages in ongoing professional development to ensure we continue offering thoughtful, current, and evidence-based care in a supportive environment.
Therapeutic Approaches
Every person's healing journey is unique. We tailor therapy using evidence-based approaches that best support your needs.
EMDR Therapy
Helps reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories and supports your brain's natural healing process.
Brainspotting
A gentle, body-based trauma therapy that can help process experiences stored in the nervous system when words alone don't feel like enough.
Somatic Experiencing
A body-oriented approach that helps you develop greater awareness of physical sensations, emotions, and nervous system responses. Somatic Experiencing can support the processing of stress and difficult experiences while building greater capacity for regulation, safety, and connection.
Mindfulness
Develop greater awareness, emotional regulation, and self-compassion.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Identify unhelpful thought patterns and build practical coping strategies.

Maybe you’ve been thinking about therapy but aren’t sure it will help. You’re an ambitious overthinker, navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, or health issues, and lately, everything feels overwhelming. I work with single parents, students, caregivers, and those ready to move past self-doubt and take meaningful steps forward. Using an integrative approach — Brainspotting, CBT, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, somatics, and self-compassion — we’ll quiet the noise, shift unhelpful patterns, and help you reconnect with what truly matters. You already have what you need; let’s unlock it together.

I offer a space to share what you’re facing, a non-judgmental ear to listen to the intricacies of your challenges, and a collaborative approach to navigate a way through any discomfort. My collaborative approach means that I trust you are an expert in your life, but I am here to offer my support, presence, and reflections of what I see in you. I am here to listen, shed light on areas you may not be consciously aware of, highlight patterns that may be stemming from earlier experiences, and emphasize your strengths. Ultimately, I aim to help you gain a deepened understanding of yourself to live a life you find meaningful and fulfilling.
I deeply value professional development and have completed EMDR Basic Training, which I now use to help treat unprocessed experiences which may be contributing to current symptoms. I am also in the process of learning and training in Somatic Experiencing therapy for treatment of stress and trauma; this approach is a bottom-up approach which differs from traditional talk therapy by focusing on your body's response to stress and trauma and aims to calm the nervous system.
